Button Blazing Star, named for its wispy button-like blooms, is a member of the aster family. This tough perennial enjoys dry to medium well drained acidic soils. It is tolerant of droughts, rocky soils, heat and humidity. It will not thrive in too rich or too wet conditions. It is a good addition to a cut flower garden with its vibrant purple blooms that open up about the same time.
