The current season's inventory is put on the website by January 1st. Customer's can start preordering at that time. Your credit card will be charged when the preorder is placed.
We currently fulfill orders by order date and plant readiness.
Yes, we are open for the season starting May 10th. We will be open until mid September, every Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday from 10am until 3pm.
Bare roots will be ready mid April and will be shipped. If you would like to pick them up at the farm you will need to email us to set up a time to pick up.
Potted perennials will be ready starting in mid May through early June. Plants can be ready early or later based on weather, individual plant growth or germination issues.
Shrubs are ready by early June. We prefer to have shrubs leafed out before selling them.

Yes! Start by scheduling a consult here with our native garden designer. Consults can be held in-person or via Zoom depending on your preference and availability. After an initial consult, we will provide you with a list of plants that would be appropriate for your space and project(s). At this point, you may also request a garden design.
Yes! Learn more about that here.
Native plants are, generally, acknowledged as the plant species which occur in their natural range without human influence. In the US, this refers to plants that existed here before European colonization. You can learn more here.
As for determining whether a plant is native to your area and a good fit for your garden, ultimately, the choice is yours. You may even find that many online resources, guides, and books have information that directly conflicts on the native ranges for certain plants. As such, we prefer to utilize the Biota of North America Program's maps to find native plant ranges in conjunction with US EPA Level III Ecoregions. Once you have identified your ecoregion(s), you can use the Native Ecoregion filter when shopping to automatically narrow your search.
A quart pot is a one-year-old plant that comes in a quart size container (available for $12.50 for most of our perennials). A trade gallon pot holds approximately 3x the amount of soil volume as a quart. Our trade gallon plants are more than a year old, and as such offer a larger plant and more established root system (available for most perennials for $20.00). Factors which would influence your choice between a quart or trade gallon would likely include aesthetics, timeline, budget, and project size.
Any plants purchased prior to May will be considered preorders as the plants are not yet ready to ship. For preorders, payment is processed immediately, but plants will ship based on order date and plant readiness. There is no difference between fulfillment speed between the "Add to Cart (Pre-order)" and "Buy Now (Pre-order)" buttons—the only difference is in the way in which you shop and pay. The "Buy Now" button brings you immediately from your product of interest to the pay window to process your order for that product. The "Add to Cart" button allows you to add multiple plants/products to your cart. Once you are finished shopping, you can then click on your cart and proceed to checkout.
