Silky Dogwood sustains a significant amount of wildlife from bees to birds, from it's creamy white small blooms that arrive in the spring to it's berries that turn from a white to blue color in late summer. This shrub has a rounded open habit and it's twigs and the underside of it's leaves have silky hairs. The young stems are a red color and turn gray as they mature. It prefers moist, well drained, slightly acid soils and tolerates close to full shade. Mulching in the summer keeps the roots cool and moist.
