Maple Leaf Viburnum is a short deciduous suckering shrub found as an understory woodland plant in moist to dry areas. Clusters of small white flowers attract butterflies in the late spring to early summer. These flowers are followed by red berries that turn to a dark blue in the late summer. As fall approaches the foliage turns to beautiful shades of red, pink and purple. This densely branched shrub provides good cover and nesting sites for birds and small mammals. Prune shrub after flowering if needed. Plants will colonize via suckers if they are not removed.
