A great addition to any herb or edible garden, cilantro is an easy annual to grow. It is happiest when placed in direct sunlight but can endure partial shade. It prefers a moist soil that is well drained. Cilantro's leaves and stems are edible, with its mature seeds (coriander) also finding use in adding flavor to food. Cilantro is the host plant for the black swallow tailed butterfly, and attracts beneficial insects such as the lacewing which prey on harmful pests.
