Common Ninebark is a hardy, native shrub that grows in full sun to partial shade and adapts well to a wide variety of soil types, from dry to moist. Ninebark produces attractive arching branches and peeling bark that adds visual interest throughout the year. In late spring and early summer Ninebark produces clusters of small, white to pink flowers. These blooms attract a range of pollinators, including bees, butterflies, and other insects, providing essential nectar and pollen. In the fall, Ninebark produces red to pink seed capsules that offer food for birds and small mammals. Its dense foliage also provides cover and nesting sites for wildlife, including birds that seek shelter in its branches. Ninebark is also the host plant for several moth species such as the Lo Moth.
