Christmas fern is a vibrant woodland fern that maintains its glossy green color year round. It grows in clumps, producing fronds which grow directly from the ground. Christmas fern needs constant shade and moist soil to establish. Once established Christmas fern is easy to maintain. It is not aggressive, spreading in clumps rather than as a carpet as some ferns do. It is the host plant for many species of moth, and provides needed groundcover in the winter for small birds.
