Aromatic Aster gets its common name from the fragrance it gives off when the foliage is crushed. It has a compact mounded habit and has a long bloom time. It prefers a dryer soil but will do well in medium soil that is well drained. Aromatic Aster spreads by rhizomes and can be an aggressive spreader so this aster would not be a good match in a small garden setting.
