Polygonatum commutatum, commonly known as Great Solomon's Seal, thrives in a shaded or partially shaded environment and prefers a moist, well-drained soils. Native to woodlands and forest edges, this plant naturally grows in areas with dappled sunlight, making it an ideal choice for shade and woodland gardens. With graceful, arching stems, Great Solomon’s Seal grows to 3-4’ but can grow as tall as 6'.  As a pollinator plant, Great Solomon's Seal attracts bees, butterflies, and other beneficial insects with its nectar-rich flowers. Its dense foliage provides cover and shelter for small mammals, birds, and insects, while the small, blue-black berries produced in the late summer provide a food source for birds and other wildlife.
