Woodland Sunflower thrives in dry open woodland areas in average well drained soils where there is partial shade. It spreads via rhizomes and may not be suitable for small gardens. It is a crucial plant for 22 specialist bee species as well as a source of seeds for our song birds.

This plant is a top 30 host plant that supports pollen specialist bees (22 bee species) according to the National Wildlife Federation.
