Tussock Sedge actively grows during the spring and fall when soil temperatures are cool. Carex stricta is a rhizomatous evergreen sedge forming a dense tussock of grass-like, rich blue-green leaves. As the leaves die off, they form a distinctive, elevated mounded clump or tussock. Best grown in mass for foliage effect in moist to wet areas including ones with standing water.
