Golden Alexanders - Zizia aurea

Golden Alexanders is covered with brilliant golden, three to four inch wide flowers that bloom for several weeks in late spring. Only one to two feet tall, this is an excellent low-growing perennial for heavy clay soils in semi-shade to full sun. This is a possible host plant for the Black Swallowtail butterfly, which lays its eggs on other plants including parsley, fennel, and dill.
