With its shrub like form, this beautiful blue spring bloomer also has foliage that will complement summer flowering plants.  When planting give Blue Wild Indigo plenty of space.  It is slow to develop, concentrating on developing it's deep tap root system the first few years.  After establishment this perennial does not transplant well.  A nice choice for a formal garden, it is not only a valuable nectar source for a number of bees and butterflies but it is also a host plant to numerous butterflies.
